Our Story

Fifteen years of showing up for people the world too often overlooks.

Hope for Humanity Foundation began with a single food drive in a flooded neighborhood. Today we run education, healthcare, food, and development programs across 14 countries — but the reason hasn’t changed.

Why We Exist

Poverty isn’t a lack of effort. It’s a lack of access.

In 2011, our founder Dara Whitfield was volunteering after a flood displaced hundreds of families in the Philippines. She noticed something: the families weren’t asking for handouts. They were asking for a working clinic, a school that hadn’t washed away, and a way to feed their children until the next harvest.

Hope for Humanity Foundation was built on that distinction. We don’t deliver charity as an ending — we build the education, healthcare, food security, and infrastructure that let communities take it from there themselves.

What Guides Us

Four commitments behind every program we run

Dignity First

We design programs with the people we serve, never for them from a distance.

Radical Transparency

Every dollar is tracked and published. Ask us anything — we’ll show our work.

Local Leadership

88% of our field staff are hired from the communities we work in.

Long-Term Thinking

We stay for years, not news cycles — measuring impact a decade out.

Our Journey

From one flooded village to a global foundation

2011

Founded after emergency flood relief work in the Philippines revealed the need for long-term community investment, not just crisis response.

2014

Launched our first Education & Youth Support scholarship cohort, enrolling 210 children across three rural districts.

2017

Opened our Healthcare Initiatives division with the first mobile clinic fleet, reaching villages with no permanent medical access.

2020

Scaled Food & Relief Assistance to meet a global surge in need, delivering over 500,000 meals in a single year.

2023

Introduced Sustainable Development programs — clean water systems and climate-smart farming — in partnership with local cooperatives.

2026

Now operating in 14 countries with 63 communities reached and over 211,000 people supported since our founding.
